Re: I'm baaaaaaack

585 to a two board and 545 to a one board for a double. Squat has me a little concerned. I did 705 last August with plenty in the tank. My back has been squirrly but I did work up to 620 for a single on Sunday. Deadlift is why my back has been squrrly. The more I work on it, the worse everything get...

Re: I'm baaaaaaack

I come in every now and then. Crowd is not the same. Newbies get run off. If I see something the piques my interest I'll chime in. I lurk now.

Still lifting though - going for an 800 squat and 600 bench this summer.

Re: I need big arm

Squatting, deadlifting, benching, rowing - compound movements will help your overall growth. Consequently your arms will grow. Your direct arm work tha...

Re: Assistance for bottom of bench

Yah Ken. Pause for a long second at the bottom - just like pause squats. Lose the elasticity and explode up. Where are you hitting the bar on you chest? You may not be going close enough to your belly. The first three rows are the moves I'm talking about. You want to pinch the scapulas together.

Re: Assistance for bottom of bench

Cambered bar benches.

Pause reps.

If you are collapsing - work on your back.

Re: Rep range & other stuff for old goat...

Lots of thoughts, Frank. The first is a question. What is your main goal? It appears that it is an overall level of cardio and strength fitness. Going off of that, my basic recommendation to you would be to shorten the rest between sets. The three minute rule is a general rule of thumb for strength ...

Are you kidding me Ken?!?!? You way undersold this place. I hated everything about NC until I went there. Now I'm ready to move here. There is stuff in there I'd never heard of. The Big Bertha squat machine?!?!?

Re: Distinction: movement vs muscle group frequency

You just asked an incredibly complicated question with no real easy answer. The best thing I can say is that it all depends on your goal and the training program. Powerlifters train specifically for lifts. I have a bench day, a squat day and a deadlift day. I usually add a day for auxiliary work. Ho...
