Re: Losing Strength. I feel like one of the guys

Oscar, I agree with keeping on or two main lifts per sessions and keeping it fairly heavy, lower olume, but also think some other stuff may be required. Here's a good article by Cosgrove you should probably read and look at his ideas. http://alwyncosgrove.com/2010/01/hierarchy-of-fat-loss/" onclick=...

Re: Found this workout what do you think?

I found this link and would like to know what you think about what he says. http://www.illpumpyouup.com/articles/deadlift-vs-squat.htm . I agree with what he's saying. I don't feel at all that it will hurt you to concentrate on one or the other for a cycle period. My suggestion would be that for as...

Re: Found this workout what do you think?

Diana, not exactly sure of the biologicals of how this happens, but it happens to me all the time. I go into a fat loss routine, using a lot of squats and O lifting pulling movements, and the quads and hips get alot stronger, but INITIALLY get larger and kind of suck up water into the muscles, makin...

Re: Why don't we attract more quality members?

Carlito,I have no idea where the quality member thing showed up, the idea is just to put out your ideas. No ones judging here, exept maybe for the troll, Oscar, and exchanges of ideas are always a good thing, even if they always don't match. You're always welcome here.

Re: Why don't we attract more quality members?

Oscar, you do make a bit of a point. I came over from the old board back in 2002 or there abouts when this board came into this format. We have had a large number of come ins, come outs. In the early days, there was a very wide spectrum, with Chris A, Ryan, Scott I , that had wide varieties of ideas...

Re: Would doing plyometrics only improve your maximal streng

I've seen programs prepared both ways over the years. In a true periodicity based program, you probably would use just plyo's for a 3-4 week block. Adding to maximal strength, probably not. But on the same order, your maximal wouldn't decrease much in that time period. The most common use of plyo's ...

Re: Questions/Advice for last/next routine

At first glance, i thought ol' Oscar was trolling again. But he's not. There is NO difference between muscle. Lean muscle tissue is lean muscle tissue, period. What distinguishes lean vs bulky is the amount of bodyfat you have on the inside and/or outside.

Re: Intermittent Fasting

Look, I'm not sure that's why most Americans are fat, and they are. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with low carbs early, then back load, or take them (C) in the morning when they can best be absorbed, then low carb it. I'm convinced both will work, and have done it. I think the problem is wit...

Re: Clint's garage gym

Hey, Clint (I'll use the real name). One thing that can happen in the lat unit, it happened to me, is that when putting it together, you will have plastic sleeves fitting inside the steel post where the weight holding bar fits into the bottom steel post. My sleeves used to slip out, so I had to poun...

Re: Clint's garage gym

Oscar, you have a bodysolid, right? I've never had a problem when I had the rack inside with paint flaking. As a matter of fact, when I moved my Dad in, I had to move the rack outside to the back porch, and while it started to flake a bit after about 6-7 months, not really very much. I hit it with W...

Re: Random Controversey Crap (Politics, etc)

Maybe I'm missing something on this occupying Wallstreet thing. I just can't figure out why the major republican cheerleaders (Limbaugh, Hannity, Fox news) are bad mouthing this thing. The way I see it, it is starting out like the tea party did (and being misinterpreted like they did). I see it as a...

Re: High Pulls

Stu, I'd actually recommend the high pulls from the floor, but, unless I misread Oscar's post, he wanted to do them from the hang. That's why I recommended Starr's power pull. In Starr's book, he had them doing them from the rack, for the simple reason that the true power shrug was above max clean o...

Re: High Pulls

Oscar, high pulls with various grip widths are great for what you are looking for. To start with , I'd recommend Starr's power shrug, power pull or whatever name he gave it. You're going to need your rack for this. Position the bar , as you're standing, just above knee level. This would be a similar...
