I agree with Jeff. I think it's better to do all sets of Military Presses first then Laterals ..... although you might want to try super-setting Dumbbell Laterals with Bent-over Laterals.

I prefer Seated Military Presses over Seated Dumbbell Presses simply because it can be very akward to lift a pair of heavy dumbbells into position at the start of a set. With a barbell you can just lift the weight off a rack and go to work.

How does you close-grip bench press compare to your regular barbell bench press?

Also, the problem may your form. If your bouncing the weight off your chest, or cheating by lifting your hips, then you may get stuck mid-rep simply because you run out of momentum.

PS.) The ethnic makeup of my high school was about 30% hispanic/latino, 8% Asian, 12% black/African American and 50% white, of which a high percentage where Italian American. As a result I was never less than average hieght, although I was only 5'6" when I graduated.

I also like lever rows (Hammer Strength and T-bar), partly because it's easier to hold onto the weight, since it doesn't roll in your hand like a barbell (I don't like wrist straps), and partly because I find it easier to move the weight in a slow and controlled manner without cheating.

Barbell vrs Dumbbell Bench Press While both are compound movements dumbbells seem to target the pectorals more specifically, while the barbell lift is more of an all-around upper body push movement. Also, dumbbells are obviously more difficult to balance and control. Meanwhile, it's easier to cheat ...

While, it's imposible to selectively contract a muscle, it is possible shift emphasis to varrying degrees from one area to another. For example, while doing Dumbbell Laterals the entire deltoid will contract to some extent, but the side head of the deltoids will do most of the work. Likewise, the en...

If you find doing squats and deadlifts in the same workout too exhausting, try doing squats and Romanian deadlifts. Just start with light weights on both and build up slowly.

Often when people refer to a biceps routine, what they really mean is a biceps/bracialis/braciordialis routine (probably spelled that wrong). As a result, they might do several exercises to target each area, although there is a great deal of crossover.

I have some good news and some bad news. Bad news first. My wife and I are still at her parents house, so I won't be able to workout for a while (at least not with weights). The good news however is that my wife gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Monday. Although he was born about 3-4 weeks early, ...

I hit a snag this week. There was a fire in my appartment building early Wednesday morning. Fortunately ,my wife and I are fine. Also our pets (a cockatiel, two geckos, two scorpions and three goldfish) survived the fire, and our appartment looks good. However, we haven't gotten the okay to move bac...
