New PR in this.

First, cut weight from 195'ish lbs+ to 180.5'ish.

210lbs X 2 clean reps each hand.
I can muster a 3rd rep, but have to take a bit of a baby step to maintain control, so only counting the 2 clean reps.

This inspired me to find some new complexes. But I'm noticing that Javorek's complexes are different when I find them in different places. Does anyone (Tim?) know if he just made changes through the years, or have people changed them and continued to attribute them to him? Javorek has several dumbe...

Barbell complexes were my main tool for getting back into things after my heart attack. They've become the core of my workout now that i am back up to snuff. Anyone who doesn't use them is missing out on a lot of benefits.

I converted my 1db snatch 1 rep with 182.5lb per side to 2reps left and 3reps right.

I upped my 1 rep for both r/l to 185 even.

I'm still in, but side press is out. Been having some problems w/right shoulder, and the angle (plus right hip flexibility issues) is giving me major problems. Will still use as a light warm up for stretch purposes, but selecting the 1 arm DB C and Press, with right arm as a Benchmark. Toppe out at...

Hoister--do you jump clear of the floor? Do you land with a hard stomp? Yes - good point that I neglected to make in my description. When i do the jumps, i actually "pretend" to be doing the snatch movement and snap my feet into the platform upon landing. Thanks for bringing that up, Jugledoc! I wi...

Re: One arm overhead lift challenge

Hoister is an expert on this. Maybe he'll volunteer advise.Stu Expert? Don't know about that, but i'll take it! ;) As far as advice goes, i will share what i do as far as technique. I'll use the example of a right handed 1 arm db snatch (the left hand will be the same, mirrored for the left hand): ...

I am in. I will stick with my current 1 arm db snatch best of 182.5lb and strive to do something with that by the end of the challenge (either add weight to it or reps).

Hit my target in the 1 arm snatch

I finally hit my goal of one arm db snatch of bodyweight each hand:

left hand - 182.5 lbs x1
right hand - 182.5 lbs x1

- attempted a second, caught it overhead in the squat, but couldn't keep the bell overhead steady enough to stand up with either hand.

Hoister, I didn't know you did MMA. Did you compete or just train? Both. Between Kick Boxing, Boxing, Tai and MMA - tournaments, matches, survivor series, etc - my overall record was 87w/15L/0D, 1 DQ. IN MMA, i was 47-0, 1 DQ. All my losses were due to injury - broken hands, feet, knee caps and jaw...

Re: Happy f-n new year to me

First training session of the new year, I think I mess something up bad. I was in my second set of my fifth exercise. I was plenty warm and wasn't even going very heavy on front dumbell raise. This is the first time I remember quitting a training session in years. This morning I wake up and I can't...

I personally use nothing but thick bars. I have 2" barbells, db's and farmers handles along with sleeves for each that increase the bar to 2.5" and 3" (3" is actually too much for my small hands). I have noticed that i can press more efficiently and higher numbers with thick bars, probably due to th...

Re: KEEP LIFTING and LIVING!

Glad to hear you're going to be lifting again. I had a heart attack in April of 2007 (80% blockage) and started lifting again the following week. I was strongly urged to refrain from any intense training and other intense activities due to the fact that my heart attack was a mystery. In the end, i ...
