I think that could be part of it. The thing about strongman that i really enjoyed was the variety. The thing that i really hated about strongman, was the variety! It is difficult to do well in those comps if you don't train the events or something close to the events - especially if you don't know w...

June 18/06 Workout: After laying off the weights since the 14th - concentrated on cardio using our new elliptical trainer and long walks dragging kids around in the wagon, playing soccer with them, etc - i was eager to hit the iron again. Was curious how my grip was holding up without direct focus o...

Matt, Hence the advantage to dumbell training! I personally have found that training certain lifts (not all) with dumbells has very positive transfer to the barbell equivalent. I.E. - i find that i can significantly improve my barbell overhead press by training with dumbells, same with the deadlift ...

Peter, Finding Barstock/Pipe: I found the rolled steel bars at a local steel retailer. I literally found them in the yellow pages of my local phone book. However, when i was at the local scrap yard and found the pipe i had originally used, i had found the rolled steel barstock there as well, however...

PeterP, I had the same dilema, so i made my own. I actually made mine in two iterations. I found 1" steel pipe at the local scrap yard and used a hack saw to cut them to desired length. Worked well until i dropped one and it landed no the pipe-end and bent it. The next iteration was the same deal, e...

Tim, Yeah i am familiar with that Anderson story and the many other stories about his strength achievements. He was one helluva squatter - he was one amazing lifter. Hepburn is one of my heroes as well - i have a mpeg of him power cleaning and STRICT pressing 380lb. He then lowers it under control t...

Thanks for the responses. I was just curious. But i may adjust my eating schedule to coincide with your advice - just to see what happens. Cheers. As for your take on supplementing with powders, i don't agree, but i don't disagree either. My goals (and they have changed over the years) have always b...

Okay, so i have been reading some other posts here in the nutrition section and to be honest, am thoroughly confused (more on that later). I do have one simple question. For the slow-digesting-protein sources, how soon BEFORE my workout shoudl i eat them in order to time them for digestion shortly a...
