HI ALL - I am back from my heart attack
Merry Xmas, ALL. I used to lurk and post here quite a bit, but had to take a vacation from the exercise game for a bit following a heart attack at the "ripe old age of 36" - back in the first week of June. The good news is that i have been cleared to get back into the game, the bad news is that they...

I personally am dead-set against st3.r0!ds being used by athelets to increase sports performance WHILE competing against other honest, disciplined, hardworking atheletes/peers. I don't know what the solution to this is other than tougher laws, strict and consistant governing bodies and more frequent...

When i back squat, i am typically a good morning squatter. Front squats however, force me to keep my torso in a more vertical position - otherwise i fall over, drop the bar etc. So i find it to be one of those exercizes on my "least" favorite list, but most "important" list as well. Took me forever ...

Also, how often would you recomend training grip strength? Every Workout? Should I do additional grip work on rest days. It's up to you and your goals. I used to do "grip" work at the end of every workout until i switched all my barbells and dumbells, farmers handles and wheelbarrow handles over to...

I am not sure what you mean by strenghtening your fist, i am assuming you mean "make your fist harder and tougher"? pdellorto - gave you good advice for that - but as he said, be careful - hands are extremely easy to damage. Assuming you are after knock out power - all you really need to focus on is...

MY NEW NEW NEW PROGRAM
Okay, so i had to abort my barrel lifting program due to dropping and destroying my barrel. So i decided to re-think things and come up with something new. After much stressing and fretting over it all i have decided to back waaaaaay off and switch things up. I spent a lot of time analysing all of m...

As for gloves, i don't use them and don't for the very reason you are experiencing grip strength issues. Roughening up your hands with calouses (sp?) will help with the "slippage" issues associated with losing your grip. But i do know people who use batter's, golfer's and carpenter's gloves - all of...

"The program was isiially used for police, military firefighters, and MAA types. There main concerns are to get a great back, but rather to get quickly over a fence or something like that.If you prefer rows, then by all means do them." -- Tim D I've always thought of rows as a fundamental strength ...

Personally, i like the CONCEPT of Crossfit i think it is a good way of developing a good (maybe advanced?) level of all-around strength and fitness. But i consider it, like any other training protocol, to be just a tool in your training tool box. The fact that the WODs are randomized and varied to a...
