As you increase speed in the motion your will exert more stretching on some muscles, it sounds like the gracilis and adductors (brevis, longus and magnus), or the interior muscles of your thighs/groin, are not flexible enough to keep up with the speed of you squats. I'd suggest either keeping it slo...

There's also pec minor, which works more on declines and dips. It's tucked away behind pec major, and I don't know how much it contributes to the shape of the chest. The pec minor tends to add to the fullness of the chest, it is not really seen that much even in Ronnie Coleman types, but it a "fill...

P.S. I had a shoulder injury about 12 years ago where it hurt to lift my arm above my shoulder, the only new thing I'd done was side lateral raises, but it first hurt on the bench. Turned out I'd used a bad technique on the side raises and "pinched" a nerve that runs between the head of the humerous...

I'd see a doctor; you may have done slight damage to a nerve between your vertebrae, hence the pain on both sides. But that is just a guess with the limited information! I'd definitely see a doctor though as he/she will be able to get you to show them what position your were in etc. and describe the...

MBT's

About 2 months ago I bought a pair of Masai Barefoot Technology (MBT) shoes. They've got an oddly shaped sole with a soft section at the heel; it makes you walk on an "unsupported" surface, like simulating sand/soft dirt, and triggers your muscles to re-adapt to walking. It also causes you to walk m...

Got through the weighted stair descent/climb 5 times last night.

42 stairs x 5 x 7.5kg

Legs were feeling it today on the walk to work! Knees coped better than I thought they would (old Basketball injuries) so I'm happy with that!

Thanks Tim! I'm living in a town called Dundee in Scotland and it's really hard to find a gym that has a good enough equipment to price ratio! They're highly overpriced for what's there let me tell you! Also the cheapest DB's I've come across are [1 million dollars].99 ($73 USD) for two handles and ...

Well it's only been 2 years, who's counting though right?

It's time to start over! Since my last try at the on-line Journal I've gotten slightly fatter, less fit and I don't gym regularly anymore. Why? Because I moved to the UK and gym's are too expensive, I'm only here for 1 year so didn't buy any home equipment and the amount of walking I do keeps me at ...

Here is the site I mentioned! http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/article-creatine.aspx It has some good info! Also I've been doing the 10g a day loading phase since Monday and I did an upper body gym session and a game of volleyball yesterday and my jumping for spikes wasn't really improved, but I could do...

Thanks Iron Man, I shall scour the ExRx website for weighted alternatives of what I'm doing and I'm thinking of tring Pistols inside a Rage Cage or Smith machine so I can start with using my arms to balance and assist if needed until I'm comfortable with the movement!

Thanks Again everyone!

KPj: Okay I know what pistols are now and I used to do them in basketball training for defensive position training and we called them death squats, I now however have far to low flexibility, power to weight ratio sucks and my knee movement control is too crap for them, maybe in a few pounds! I like ...

By core I meant abs upper, lower and oblique's, lower back, hip flexors and exrensors, and other stabiliser's through the mid section. I'm doing squats and dead lifts on leg days and I do pretty much all my dumbell exercises (except standing ones of course) seated or lying on a fit ball to build mid...

I use a blender and drink out of glass, the plastic of the blender jug is less pourous than most shakers so it doesn't get the smell! I also use a protein powder that stays stable in mixed form for 24 hours so I mix once in the morning and store in a glass container in the fridge, glass definitely w...

I just started yesterday. A site I found yesterday that I can't find right now but will be in the history of my work computer said there are three major theories on how to take it: The Supplement Companies: Loading Phase: 5g 4 times a day for 5 days then Maintenance Phase: 5g a day there after with ...

Core Workout

I want to get a good core work out at home. I have at my disposal a fit ball, a broom stick, 2kg ankle weights, some floor and some push up bars. Will soon have dumbells, a 6 foot bar and a chin up bar. Any ideas? Tonight I did 2 sets of: 10 push ups 10 fit ball sit ups 10 fit ball back extensions 1...
