Dead Lift Program

OK -- Even though I have been engaged in bodybuilding for 20+ years, I havent deadlifted since college days. At age 57, I primarily use free weights and compound exercises, including squats, bent-over rows, presses. What would you recommend for a summer dead lift program? I've been told not to go un...

Thanks, guys. I do back separately from biceps (11 total sets), so I usually hit biceps somwhere else in the week, with abs or calves, depending on my schedule. Heavy barbell curls is usually all I do: 12-10-8-6, sometimes followed by dumbell curls, 3x8-10.

Close-Grip Pull-downs

When performing these on the lat machine, how would you modify the movement or your posture to shift the emphasis to biceps. This movement is similar to the close-grip lat chin, but I am thinking about doing it the same day I do barbell and dumbbell curls - to hit the biceps a different way. Any sug...

Stiff-legged deads are great for stretching and conditioning. Start out with an empty olympic bar and add a little weight every two weeks. I like to stand on a raised platform, so I can get a full stretch. As for regular dead lifts, form is critical to avoid injury. Done properly and consistently, d...

Acerac: Declined dumbbell presses and standing cable cross-overs can help accentuate and define the lower pecs. The shape is determined by your genetic make-up. In my opinion, Steve Reeves had the best-looking chest ever. Mike Katz, Serge Nubre, Lou Ferigno, and Arnold had huge chests that were well...

The rest-pause strategy can result in explosive growth. I wouldn't recommend it for too long, as your connective tissue may become irritated by this.

Did you read the thread on IronOnline? That type of massage and deep tissue stretching jacked-up a lot of people. Also, simply stretching the mylin sheath does not stimulate muscle growth. Maybe I read it all wrong.

Re: Doggcrapp training

Anyone ever tried it and do you have cycles for it? Hoosegow: There is a post on Draper's IronOnline that explains what Doggcrapp training is and includes other references to it. Sounds dangerous and ineffective, to say the least. I go by PumpDaddy on that board, by the way. The thread you want to ...

One-arm Deadlift Technique

I enjoy doing Dumbell cleans and snatches, and I'd like try one-arm deadlifts, as well. Are there any films or illustrations available that would show one-arm deadlift techniques? The only thing I can remember is that you had to straddle the dumbbell. I imagine references to this subject may be hist...

Who's Going to the Arnold?

Any ExRxer's going to the Arnold? I'll be staying at the Continent Inn Friday through Saturday and bringing my 13-yr. old son, Zane. If you want to hook up, I'll email you my cell number.

I use mine for stiff-leg deadlifts because they require less weight. I just grip the EZ curl bar out by the plates where the bar is straight.

Re: Skinny guy with belly problem

I have been on a plan to gain weight as well as muscle mass for the past two months or so. What have you been doing, exercise wise, to gain muscle mass? Remember that more muscle burns more fat. The biggest and fastest growing muscles are in your legs. Start squatting, bro, along with rows, deads, ...

With compound exercises (mostly what I do), I decrease reps in each set and increase weight (usually by 10 lbs.) each set. I time my rests between sets (usually 4 sets) on my stopwatch at 2 to 3 minutes. I feel that is the minimum to move up 10 lbs. If I get more than 8 reps on my last set, I'll add...
