Re: Trying to identify three exercises

ExRx doesn't have every exercise out there and some specialized and combination exercises are certainly missing. Are those exercises you made up or did you learn them from somebody?

Re: How do I become a personal trainer? I have no idea!

I'm not but I was considering it as a retirement option. My son got part way through kinesiology. We both took some training through the YMCA. If you can finish your degree, then CSCS is the way to go. I believe our Jason Nunn and Kenny Croxdale have that qualification. I'm in Canada so I'm not too ...

I'm not a trainer but I have looked into it. What country are you in, and do you have any related education?

Re: Where's Doc been, and what's he been up to?

Doc, I'm on my way to work so I have to be brief. My wife had degenerative disks in her 40s without any lifting but on the other hand, Ronnie Coleman just had his hips replaced. Certainly heavy lifting can make things worse or it can help, depending on the situation. There have been people come by h...

Re: Speed deadlifts... when to breathe?

Nice Kenny. I don't know if anyone here watches kettlebell sport but they do large numbers of KB exercises over and extended period. This is a unique requirement of power and stamina. The technique used is similar to the cluster sets Kenny described. They do a rep, rest a couple seconds, then do ano...

You need the administrator to grant you rights and he needs to have a warm fuzzy about you not posting spam.

Re: Where's Doc been, and what's he been up to?

Andy, That's a great story, and I'm glad you shared it with us. One of the things that attracted me to this forum was that there were people going through stages I could relate to. Everything is not a straight forward "do this, that happens". Your experience will help me with my own trials as they c...

Something that is non slip is best, but you should be able to wipe sweat off easily.

Re: Where is discussion these days?

Reddit is popular but much of the value is in how the FAQs are written. This is a good and bad thing. I've been on /r/fitness for about 3 years and have slowly been chipping away at misconceptions that existed there. The big ones that I've been working on are that cardio kills your gains and you eit...

Re: Repetition stagnation

You can mix up your rep ranges. Instead of 3x15, go with heavier weight and fewer reps. Then when you go back to 3x15, you should be stronger. For example: http://exrx.net/WeightTraining/Periodiz ... tml#Sample" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Kjung, The post from H-Bizzle mentioned a Dave Tate video. Do a search for that. Also this: http://www.strengtheory.com/why-you-sho ... -benching/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Speed deadlifts... when to breathe?

Brace at the bottom, expel the air quickly once you set the bar back down, then repeat the cycle. Speed squats are supposed to be explosive on the way up, but take the time to set up each rep.
