Re: Gym Wish List...
Stu, I'm looking to buy the building, not lease it, and I've been working my a.$s off to make sure I have the money to make it happen, I know what it's going to cost me to operate, including averaged water/electricity bills to compare, as this one is about the same size as i would be operating, what...

Re: Gym Wish List...
lol, thanks for the ideas...I had tossed around the idea of having a seperate room to kind of hang out and maybe cool down in, but largely to keep kids there to keep them out of trouble, as like I said, I intend to work largely towards youth development, and not just in terms of muscular development...

Re: Gym Wish List...
Ive considered the option of leasing out a small space to a supplement store, but ultimately I'm looking for a wish list, what you would prefer, what you would like to see. It's just things for me to consider that I may not have already in terms of additions or features that other gyms might be miss...

Re: Gym Wish List...
Thanks for the responses, and to address many of those ideas at once, some of the elements that I had intended to include were a space just for the strongman stuff, and an indoor space so it can be used during the winter, as it snows here and is cold. the space I'm gunning for is a 10,000 sq. ft. wa...

Re: Shoulder training
I've got big shoulders naturally, but what I've really seen improvements doing is doing upright rows both with a barbell, and with heavy dumbells, alternating hands each rep. Also, try doing dumbbell snatches...do just one arm at a time, and perform sets of 8-12 with heavy dumbbells...Also, pull-ups...

Gym Wish List...
Ok, so I know at some point all of you have joined gyms. I also know that at some point, for guys who lift often, you've said, "I wish my gym had (x)." I'm building a gym, which in addition to catering to the serious lifter with items such as 100lbs plates, heavy rated bars, chains, and strongman eq...

Re: Neck Training
Wow, Stu, extremely throrough post, lol. The long and the short of it is, as long as it doesn't impede your flexibility, having balanced strength and finding a reason to strengthen all the parts of your body seem worth while to me. Sometimes it's what makes the difference between being the strongest...

Re: Competition
I was thinking the same thing stu, and I think I'm going to I am going to do the USAPL, because it also grants me the opportunity to compete in the world cup as well. I like the idea of doing natural powerlifting competitions raw.

Competition
Ok, so understanding my situation, obviously I have never competed. I was going to do one school-run competition last year, but I ended up leaving the school gym because it was too expensive for not enough gym. It wouldn't have been much of a competition anyway, from what I heard. Now, with all of t...

Re: Posting Again After Long Hiatus
lol, no, no 1000lbs squat, unfortunately. During the last year, I completed the first year of law school, was coaching two kids hockey teams, playing hockey, teaching classes to at risk kids at a local high school, buying a house, handling renters, and doing some remodel work to the house at the sam...

Posting Again After Long Hiatus
Well, hopefully all of you old schoolers remember me, putting out an update that I've been doing well, finished the first year of law school, and I'm opening a powerlifting gym next spring/summer. Still hitting the weights hard, haven't yet competed, but I'm going to start competing and promoting th...

Not any kind of a scheduled lift, no...I listen to my body and test the metal. Typically I'll start with sets of 10 @550, then until I hit 675, I push it pretty hard. Once I hit 675, whether I can hit 4, or 1, I hit ones until failure, and if I'm feeling ok, always push until failure. I always lift ...

I'll have to get some new ones from the new gyms I'm at....I was doing this primarily in prison...so no, no bodybuilding or competitive powerlifting of any formal sort. I don't think I should post any of the ones i had from prison, because I'm not sure how the state of "x" would feel about me doing ...
