Re: Rugby Workout
Schwarzenegger spent hours in the gym six days a week doing his workouts. If you have the time, go ahead. Working out like a bodybuilder won't do much to prepare you for rugby, though. Most Olympic lifters and Powerlifters are stronger than Schwarzenegger pound for pound - and they don't spend near...

Re: Rugby Workout
Ok maybe yall can clear something up for me... I've always associated feeling tired with a good workout. A friend told me how Arnold Schwarzenegger used to have to be carried out if the gym because he worked his muscles to exhaustion. So it always seemed to me that a workout where you feel tired at ...

Re: Rugby Workout
@HealthyJay: The measures of a successful weight training program are increases in muscle strength and/or muscle size, NOT whether or not that you feel tired at the end of the workout. Don't be concerned about it unless you aren't making progress. If you can do more reps, you probably aren't using ...

Re: Rugby Workout
Now, i've tried the 5-3-1 type workout in the past, and even now, i feel more tired (and my muscles feel like they got a better workout) doing more than 6 reps. 3 sets of 6 reps seems to go too quick for my muscles to get a real good workout. Am i doing it wrong somehow? I struggle to put up the las...

Popping joints
Hi all, Another random question post, but what has anyone heard about the cons (if any) of popping joints? I have 2 meanings: First, just the general popping joints like knuckles, neck, etc... Have ther been any studies to link it to arthritis? Is it going to hurt your joints in the long run? And Se...

Re: Training schedule confusion
So if i do a few accessory lifts also, would i do them right after the compound exercise for that muscle group? Like if i am doing incline dumbbell press to go with a barbell bench press, should i do the incline press right after? Or do a different muscle goup inbetween the compound and auxillary ex...

Re: Training schedule confusion
Wow! Thanks a lot Jungledoc! I think you are right, i didn't fully know what i was asking and what was important to know beyond that. So if i am lifting to gain strength mainly and size secondary, should i be sticking with 5 or less reps per set? And does it matter how long my breaks are inbetween? ...

Re: Training schedule confusion
I'd say you could split your routine even more, or cut some exercises. So i am doing too may exercises? You do realise that you have 4 exercises that work the triceps, yet only 2 that actually work the big leg muscles? Should i be doing more push exercises for legs? I work my hamstrings on a pull d...

Re: Training schedule confusion
I see a problem Exactly... That is why i am asking for help... How i made my routine was through this site: i clicked on the push/pull under the weight training part of the site. There it breaks it down into various muscle groups to work in order. I clicked on each muscle group and it brought up a ...

Re: Training schedule confusion
1 exercise per muscle group, and it takes an hour and a half? Something does not compute here No kidding! That's why i am so confused... Well hell, cut the amount of exercises. You have Push/Pull split, but still you talk about muscle group isolation? What's going on? How do your workouts really lo...

Re: Training schedule confusion
As my workout routine is now, i have been doing about 1 exercise per muscle group listed. I def feel like i need to do more than 1 per some muscle groups, but my workout is already taking me an hr and a half. I work out between my morning job and my night job, so i can't really make it any longer. A...

Re: Training schedule confusion
Just for example, the first push muscle group is chest (general), but it has both normal bench press (which i need) and dumbell fly (which i would also want to do) in the same catergory.
Thanks! :D
