A quick question about post-workout

I keep seeing people say you want carbs + protein after a workout, but not fat.

I'm under the impression the reason for this is that fat will slow down the digestion process and therefore slow down getting the protein and carbs converted into what your body needs. Is that the basic reason for this, or is there something else?

Also, is there a general consensus on how long this "no fats" window should last?

Carbs with the protein can help with the uptake of the protein. Nutrition timing may have marginal utility in elite athletes, especially with multiple workouts per day, but for the average person, as long as you get a meal containing some protein withing a few hours of training, you will get the benefit of it.
