About 2 years ago I started some basic regular excersie to lose weight...
I went from 5'11 247lbs to 195lbs in about 18 months just stairclimbing and jogging 3 to 4 times a week. I didnt do any weight training or make much effort to diet (other than not having anymore fastfood/soda). Recently I decided to take the next step and add in proper eating habbits and some weight training. My goal is slim down and add muscle mass... short term goal would be 180lbs with added strength.
I did some reading on this site and elsewhere to try to come up with a reasonable diet.
breakfast: oatmeal+skim milk or water + 1-2 slices of toast
+3 hours: chicken breast, tuna or 2 boiled eggs+ vegatables (lettuce/carrots/beans)
+2 hours: fruit prior to exercise... applie/pear/peach
+1.5 hours: ??? dunno what to put post excercise... i have heard that some source of carbs + protein is good or some sort of protein shake. Input on this would be useful
+3 hours: chicken/turkey with salad (no dressing) yogurt+fruit for dessert.
What sort of snacks are decent in this time period? How about wine with fruit?
+2-4 hours: sleep
odds and ends...
I make some decent vegatable chilli with peppers onions garlic red beans and chicken broth. Should I still be eating this?
What about couscous?
Any input would be appreciated.
