When to eat whey protein

Post by fortiz » Wed Oct 17, 2007 2:07 pm

I usually eat a scoop of whey after an hour of my workout. Is that good or is that bad. Is it enough whey. That is the only whey i eat all day.

I would take it as soon as possible after working out. Although it is also important to eat sugar right after working out.

You don't want to eat monosaccharides after you workout (glucose or simple sugars). Polysaccharides (Carbs) would be much better for the body since the polysacchs take much longer to digest it won't cause a 'sugar rush' like monosacchs would. Which causes a high production of insulin dropping the blood glucose level below the norm causing you to crash.

The energy value of the foods containing polysacchs is usually much better as long as its not in the catagory of empty calories.

Through experience, I will PAY THE PRICE if I don't take my whey protein:

1) Immediately after the workout

AND

2) Before bedtime almost every night in between any two workouts

Cheers
