Is this a good product?

Post by kidkurious » Thu Oct 18, 2007 8:10 pm

I recently bought a weight gainer from Montreal. I tried to search for it on google, but couldn't find any info on it, so I'm gonna post the nutrition details and other stuff mentioned on the tube.

Should I stick to this protein powder? The dealer at the store recommended it to me and he said it's the most popular weight gainer in the area. He sold me the 3rd last tube available on the shelf.

The first few days of taking it, I had diarreha and it didn't that good, but my system has gotten used to it now and it tastes better for some reason.

Aromatised concrtated whey protein supplement

The powder is called "Xtrem Gainer"... it's french, so xtrem is not a typo...
It says: HIGH "B.C.A.A. Content"

3 scoops (1 serving, 200g)

Calories: 609

Fat/Lipides: 1g
- Saturated: 1g
- Trans: 0g

Cholesterol: 0mg

Sodium: 0mg

Creatine: 5mg

Carbohydrates: 100g
- Fibre: 0g
- Sugars: 100g

Protein: 50g

I usually use CytoGainer, but because my budget is limited now, I bought 3lbs of Xtrem Gainer, which costed only $35.

Is this a good gainer? There are no vitamins or minerals listed...

I use this as a post-workout shake only... sometimes I'll have half a serving before a work out if I haven't had anything good to eat prior to training.

3 lbs for "only $35?" That, sir, is a bit of a rip off. And that's not really a weight gainer, it's protein powder with a crapload of sugar in it. 5mg of creatine is negligble too, since it's about 1% of an effective dose. I personally wouldn't trust a product from an obscure foreign brand like that, especially if it was $11/pound. N-large2 is probably a better bet. You can get a 10 lb tub for about $40 and it has the same things that powder has.
