A few questions on carb cycling

Post by jonfrodo » Sun Feb 10, 2008 6:28 pm

Hi Guys I am a little bit confused on a thing called carb cycling. I am on a training split, one day on one day off, the work outs are going well. I do notice that some people split their training to different body parts for 5 days straight and then have 2 days off. I am planing to switch to this system in 4 weeks is that a good Idea? Is the idea to cut my carbs on the training days and back on them again on them on the off day? If so what is the best Kcal, P , F, Carb ratio on these days?. Sorry for so many questions, lol I have lots more, but I do not wish to hassle you all with so many dumb questions. Please help. Jon Frodo :-)

The link will fill in the details but to answer your specific questions, carb cycling means eating more on the days you work out and less on the days you don't. To do it the other way around would defeat the purpose. On the days you work hard you need the calories to feed the workout and take advantage of the muscle building opportunity after the workout. Cardio does not count as a workout.

Moving to a 5 day split is a whole other issue and is a question worthy of it's own thread in the General section. There are many factors that need to be considered in such a move.
