Am I a bit slow? I'm having trouble figuring out what the disagreement is. Ironmaidens summary seems to be pretty much what Chris is trying to say. I've enjoyed the discussion, too, but I'm also starting to skip and skim.

Oddly enough, this month’s Flex came in yesterday and it has a little article about using BCAAs. They suggest also using Lysine as well. They cite a couple of studies that indicate BCAAs can speed recovery and help you avoid over-training even when you are on a routine designed to over-train you. They recommend a dosage of 5-10g of BCAAs plus 1G of Lysine along with your Whey protein shake.

However, as they note, BCAAs alone can not build protein; the rest of the essential AAs are required. As such, if you sup with BCAAs, it is suggested you add extra BCAAs to your regular whey. Since I buy Whey that is fortified with BCAAs (extra has been added), I think that is enough. Clearly though, the message is that BCAAs alone is not a good idea. Extra BCAAs are good, but you must also include the other essential AAs.
