Going through a recomposition - MRP question.

Post by brook011 » Sat Jan 10, 2009 6:36 pm

I was just wondering what you guys thought of this. Currently, I am using a whey protein blend isolate/casein, along with two tbsp of cold milled flax seed as a replacement to meals during the day. It puts me at about 240 for the protein - 42g protein I belive + 90-100 for the flax, and almost no carbs. So a decent almost 400 cals per shake. Currently I drink this three times per day, and usually have one to two solid meals, usually consisting of chicken and vegetables in olive oil. It's working so far, but I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions as to maybe adding, and should I take fish oil alongside the shake to bump my (EHA?) intake? Thanks guys

OH - forgot to note, on workout days, I consume 60g waxy maize in that same shake post workout.

I used to take flax meal like that but I'm changed to fish oil. It's a little more expensive but apparently the ALA in flax seed is not that useful. Only a small percentage of it is actually converted to EPA and DHA.

I take a multi currently though I always question their legitimacy as far as absorbing them, what about liver pills?

desiccated liver pills? not like milk thistle, like http://www.powerhouse-supplements.net/ul40beefliv.html

though not at that price. i think i could get it for not much more than my mutli-v's for the same 30 day period.

Yeah, i know, they sound horrible. Its basically liver, which is extremely high in nutrients -- supposedly -- Protein, B-Vitamins (B-12, B-6, Choline, Inositol, Biotine, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Folic Acid, PABA, B-1, and B-2) and Iron.. I did alot of reading about them and supposedly back in the day, thats what everyone did was either eat liver or get pills like this, powdered compressed liver. Each pill is 1g protein along with the nutrients, you generally supplement each meal with 4-8 of them. Thats why the bottles are sold in giant 500cap bottles.

But what's the point? Get B vitamins, how much of each? Only 75mcg of cyanocobalamin form of B12? Not worth it. Buy a B complex pill if you want extra amounts of it. You get iron from eating meat.

I would rather get my vitamins from food honestly, but I'm maintaining fairly close to velocity diet protocol, minus the one food meal a day and the waxy maize. It's working so far, who sells powdered vitamin that doesnt taste like powdered ***?

Well lets put it this way if you want to try it then go for it. I'm putting out suggestions based on what I would do. If you want to be very envious add CLA into your mrp.

Yeah I was thinking about that. Sesamin gets good stuff back on it too but most of this stuff is a miniscule difference. I'm just glad I've got a solid energy stack now to actually be able to lift on less food.
