How long will a mixed protein shake keep?

Post by stabbacat » Fri Jan 16, 2009 12:25 pm

I want to mix up a protein shake in a water bottle and save it in my bag until I get done working out. I live too far from work/gym to really get home in time to make a shake then. My powder says in the directions to "drink immediately after mixing". I was wondering what ideas others had to have a shake ready after working all day then going to the gym.

Thanks.

Just shake it up again when you get to the gym. It tends to settle out if you don't.

You could carry it dry in a shaker cup, and carry some water. Mix, shake, drink. That's what I do.

Yeah, just mix when ready. If you cannot find a shaker cup, pop into your local Mothercare (or equivalent) and pick up a pot for storing formula milk powder!

It might be a better idea to put protein bars in your gym bag if you can't consume a protein powder immediately after you blend it.

But most meal replacement and protein powders dissolve easily in a shaker bottle. You can buy a shaker bottle at GNC for five bucks
