Carb Matrix

Post by nygmen » Fri Jul 03, 2009 10:28 pm

So I use these guy's protein: Optimum Health Nutrition.

Tastes good, and I gain on it well.

So I'm tooling around their site and see this PRODUCT.

I have been putting Chocolate syrup in my PWO shake for the spike, but if this is worth the money I might give it a shot.

What do you guys think? Is it bunk?

All the claims are silly and overstated but it might be a good product depending on the price and what is in it. You just need the usual mixture of whey and dextrose.

I just use dextrose or maltodextrin and its only [1 million dollars] a kg (5$ish for 2.2lb) guessing it's a lot cheaper in america anyway like most supplements. I cant see what makes Carb Matrix more beneficial.

excuse my ignorance, but dextrose is a sugar right? So post workout shakes should have dextrose? But would any kind of sugar do? As i understand it you get fructose from fruit, so would that work the same?

Fructose doesn't give the same insulin spike that dextrose does. Table sugar is half and half so is better than fruit for this purpose but not as good as dextrose.

There are different schools of thought on this subject but post-workout is the only time where there is any reason to want to spike your insulin, if any reason exists.
