One of guys in the gym was saying I should add some oil to whey protien as fat is essential for the body to absorb protein. He couldn't however remember which one. Does anyone know?

You may be thinking of the
Budwig Flax oil/protein diet. She used cottage cheese. The modern equivelant would be fish oil and whey. Other oils that may be beneficial are coconut oil and olive oil. Whether you take them with protein or separately is unimportant.
Some suggest that oil can slow down the protein absorption making it more useful before bed.

It's not so bad. It's really no worse than eggs, cream or peanut butter.

Yea shakes mask taste for me too - I'd rather put a table spoon of oil in a shake than ...*thinks*... pretty much anything, I happen to find my current shakes quite enjoyable taste wise, but generally I take it like medicine (gulp it down)

As I've mentioned before here - coconut oil mixes well with protein powders, in terms of flavor anyway. (It's a solid room temp so requires significant mixing.)
