Bodybuilding is in my near future believe it or not.
I have a body building friend of mine that just took second and third at one competition.
He mentioned macro nutrients and carb cycling to cut fat pre show to get shredded. Does anyone have anything else more in depth on that? I'm asking experience not links to studies. Thanks guys.

Dr Clay Hyght did a really good article on it:
http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_art ... should_eat" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
that should answer any question you have. It's pretty much how I eat, and I love it, but then I have the genes to stay lean anyway...

Robert do you carb cycle? Are you at about 4-6% body fat? That's what I'm eventually going to be at but I was asking if anyone carb cycles. I can't view that link while at work but I will check it out when I get home thank you.

Re: Macro nutirents and carb cycling
I have no idea if I'm at 4-6% bodyfat, however I am VERY lean. Put me on stage at a physique competition with the tan and the good lighting and I don't think I'd embarrass myself too much (I'm talking leanness, not muscle mass. My lack of muscle'd put me dead last haha). I couldn't say whether or not that's because of the carb cycling or not because I have very good genetics for staying lean. As I understand it, people that struggle to get lean have very good success with carb controlled diets, but naturally skinny types may want to include more carbs, however I prefer a high fat diet more for what I believe to be the general health benefits, plus it suits my cooking style a lot more.
So really I am the last guy in the world who could ever give advice about fat loss, having never needed to do it. I will say though that I got noticeably leaner at the start of the summer when I experimented with intermittent fasting, so that might be something you'd want to try.
