Frequent Meals and Dental Care

Post by KenDowns » Thu May 02, 2013 7:49 pm

So my dentists says the 5-6 meals/day thing is bad for your teeth.

The argument is that food reduces the pH in your mouth, and the danger spot is 5.5, where it is so acidic your enamel begins to dissolve. Apparently once the "attack" of food passes, highly base saliva returns your pH to more neutral, and you re-uptake the enamel. Unless you keep eating all day, in which case your body can't get the pH back to neutral or base.

Anybody else heard this?

Ken,

I look forward to the next 47 posts where you enlighten us regarding the latest in your dental care discoveries
Let me lead off with MY credentials.
I eat
I eat a lot and sometimes multiples meals an hour
I had a year of CP Chemistry in HS and a year in pre-Engineering.
I went to the dentist 3 times this year. The last time I went was my first check up in 30 years.
Next week I'll be getting a crown and fillnig 3 small cavities
I don't floss. I brush 2x day and drink florinzated water.

All of that really has nothing to do with this post.
I think dentists are getting a little bored. All this floride in our water. Cosmetics is where it's at. So, ask if you can eat all day and just rinse with some baking soda. \
back to Glee.
