I haven't been here in a while. I joined this forum a few years ago looking for ideas and feedback on my exercise training to improve my spinal cord injury. Not easy possibilities, but I'm not looking for easy. I'm going to start working with a pilates trainer. Does anyone here know anything about pilates?
I've been trying to arrange my thoughts on training and movement and I can't seem to get it figured out. But I think I am seeing it better.
I need to learn / know more about basic functional movements. I'm trying to figure out the most basic functional movements that are useful to move about and do everyday things. Like, if you are lying in bed and you sit up you do it without thinking. But since I have not done it in so long I've forgotten what and how it works. If I could train the muscles that do that movement, and a handful of other important movements that are basic but powerful, they would make a great difference to my improvements.
If I can get on the floor I can practice / train rolling side to side and I know those muscles would improve and strengthen. But what would those muscles be useful to me for apart from rolling side to side?
There are other areas and ideas I have that I know would greatly benefit me and I might ask for help with figuring out.
For now I would greatly appreciate your feedback and ideas on training to improve basic movements. Thank you for your help.
