Bench press test: weight of the bar included or not?

Post by TarkanTeber » Sat Oct 14, 2006 12:24 pm

Hi. There's a test described in this site which requires the use of a metronome, 80 lbs of weight and a bench. But should the weight of the bar added to that 80 lbs? And do they assume that an olympic bar will be used? If so, how much does an olympic bar weigh? Much more than my bar whose diameter is about an inch I guess.

Thanks.

Typically bar weight would be included for any free-weight lift. A 7' Olympic bar weights (or at least should weight) 45 lbs. The 6' Standard (1" diameter holes in plates) bar I used to use weight about 20 lbs.

spam - also perhaps the entire 'testing' forum is not needed and worthy of reconciliation into another forum.
