Dumbbell pullovers

I've wondered for a long time why it is that the recommended position for doing d.b. pullovers is lying across the bench rather than along the length of it. I find lying the length of the bench much more comfortable. Am I missing something, i.e., sacrificing some subtle benefit that lying across the bench affords? Thanks Don[/u]

The only thing I can think of is lying perpendicular requires more stabilization with the core, legs, etc. If you aren't particularly worried about that, do along the length if its more comfortable

I like to do them lying on a stability ball which seems to additionally work my abs good.

I kinda like them and I kinda don't like them. For the untrained shoulder, they put alot of stress on teh capsule and RTC muscles (if they are not conditioned). I like them for pec minor work. When I do perform them, I bring the DB back and only raise it to about a 30 degrees and that emphasizes the pectoralis minor and serratus.
