On the website itself, the dumbells in the picture are perpendicular, but when I do the shoulder press I always have them parallel. Am I doing it wrong?

By parallel, do you mean that your palms are facing each other?

A parrallel grip (palms facing) with the DB press is fine, as a matter of fact I prefer it. In most cases, different grips are fine with just about any exercise. Experiment with them.

You can even rotate the dumbbells as you press them. Meanwhile, because your using dumbbells you can alternate between your right and left arms OR train one side at a time with a single dumbbell.
