A quick question

hi guys,

just a quick question:
for someone lookin for bigger muscle size with a fast recovery rate is it better to
a/ heavily work each muscle group once a week (2 muscle groups, with about 4/5 exercises per group, a day on a split routine)
OR
b/ work each muscle group 2 twice a week, reapeating the monday and tuesday workouts on thursday and friday respectively.?

any help would be great!

Haha, well for most people I think working a muscle group twice a week is recommended, because you may not generate enough intensity once a week to necessitate such a long rest period. If you feel like you need the extra days of rest because you're lifting a lot when you do go, then maybe you should consider 1-day-a-week routines.

Training each muscle twice a week is fine if you feel adequately recovered. Just remember it's not only your muscles that need time to recover between workouts, but also joints and connective tissues.

PS.) 4-5 exercises per muscle group is high volume, even for once a week. Also, keep in mind smaller muscle groups need less work. It wouldn't make sense to do as many sets for biceps as you would for back.

Yep, Matt is right. Dont do the classic newbie mistake and put barbell curls, conc. curls, preacher curls, and hammer curls all in the same workout.
