This is stinkin' awesome! People who have not done TGUs can't appreciate what an 80-pound TGU is like. I have and I do. This inspires me to get the TGU back into my routine.

Thanks Andy. It's my favorite exercise just because it points out areas I have to work at.

Personal best bench

Post by KenDowns » Sun Mar 13, 2011 10:03 pm

Today I hit 1.25x body weight on bench, or 200#, about half-way from my first goal, body weight, to my next goal, 1.5x body weight.

I have a deload week this week. In honor of the NFL combine I tried the 225 bench press for reps test. There is a little controversy. My spotter said 29 reps. I counted 30. I MAY have had one left in me so if I thought it was 29, I dang sure would have tried to ground out one more.

Barbell Box Squat = 3 sets x 365 lbs for 3 reps (03/14/11)

Felt pretty easy!

If this is your idea of "deload"....

What else do they have to do for the test? 100 yd dash. Isn't vertical jump in there somewhere? That seems like it would make more sense in basketball, though.

It kind of depends on position.

http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/2011 ... cfm?pos=DT

You can click on different positions to kind of see what they test for. The skill positions have a some additional agility tests.

FWIW the 225 BP test is worthless.

some guy got 49 reps this year. I'm not a big american football fan but that's pretty damn impressive.

Yup. 49 is the record. I don't think there has been any correlation between this test and success in the NFL>

Corrected.

Combine is designed for the fans, any scout that bases their decisions off of it is an idiot.

kind of a personal best this: had to throw out a t shirt today because it's now too small. And no, before anyone says it, I haven't gotten fat
