To 'viking':
yeah, I haven't recently tested my push-ups max, that 33 I did was just when I was about to post my pb's for the first time. If I went into the gym and first thing I did was pushups I would probably get 40+, but you're right, I think I do lack "muscle endurance."
I weigh about 186lbs, it fluctuates because I eat a lot and have a high metabolism. Perhaps in the coming weeks I will try to establish what my true push-up pb is.
Meanwhile, new squat and deadlift pb's:
Squat - 2s 3r 285lbs
Deadlift - 1s 5r 285lbs

Yeah thanks, I've really gotten into deadlifting, I feel great afterwards. My goal for the end of this strength phase is (in about 5 weeks) a set of 345. I think gaining 80lbs from 265 (what I started at) to 345 is a large enough gain for the first time through a deadlift program.JeffD wrote:Thanks, and way to go to you to! You seem to be making similar progress to what ive been experiencing...seems like im going up at least 10lbs every time i do them. I do a pause as well between, mines no more than a second or 2. Just to make sure my form is ready for action..
One thing to note is you will do more if you do not release tension between the reps. When you release tension it signals the muscle that the set is done and fatigue can begin to really set in (in the form of recuperation). Now, granted 3 seconds is really short so I am not sure if that is a big problem but it is somethign to keep in mind.

Hey guys
25, 6', 260lbs, 31% body fat
At 18 (200lbs, 19% body fat) my 1 rep bests were:
Bench: 100kg (220lbs)
Squat: 225kg (495lbs)
Leg Press: 325kg (715lbs)
Now after a long time out of the gym:
Bench: 115kg (253lbs)
Squat: 125kg (275lbs) (?Technique and Flexibility?)
Leg Press: 250kg (550lbs)
No idea why bench has gone up untrained but oh well I'll take it! I hope to be back to my 18y.o. Weight (maybe lower), Body Fat% (Maybe Lower)and Squat and Leg press bests by September, they are my goals before I get married!

Well even though I'm feeling well under the weather, I posted a new pb in squat this afternoon:
1s 3r 295lbs
I would have attempted a pb in deadlift, 1s 5r 295lbs, but instead cut my workout short because I wasn't feeling good. Hopefully I'll be fully healthy in time for my next legs/back day, then I can set my new pb!

Good luck. Yeah i dont think anything beats the feeling in my body after a great deadlift session. I just feel so pumped and energized inside..like im ready to challenge Chuck Liddell to a fight ;). Its seems like such a short time ago that i was doing sets with 235...now i'll be giving 350 a go in a couple days.DubDub wrote: Yeah thanks, I've really gotten into deadlifting, I feel great afterwards. Okay - i'll join in on this bragging game ;)
I've been chasing 500lb in the deadlift for months now, and finally nailed it last evening, using a cambered bar (at bwt of 180lb). I'm going to stick with the cambered bar and work up to 515 or so and then drop back in weight and go to a regular bar and start chasing 500lb on that. I seem to be able to pull at least 30lb more with the cambered bar (probably due to the rom afforded by it and my leverages) so i am guessing my standard deadlift woulb be around 470 max.
Let you know how it goes.

True - especially when you hit a new PR!
