So I'm looking to switch up my routine, here's how I'm rolling now:
Chest/Shoulders - Off Day - Quads - Off Day - Arms/Back - Off Day - Hamstrings/Calves - Off Day - Repeat
I'm wondering if I can just switch to working out 2 consecutive days and then taking a day off, then 2 days working out again, and so on. Am I risking overworking the lower back muscles by doing this, even though they are used as nothing more than stabilizers on the lower body days?
Oh, I also throw in abdominal work or light cardio after a couple of workouts a week, if that matters.
How much can your back take? (Quick question)

Yes you can work out with an ABxABxx format. Here is a guideline:

As far as being careful with your lower back, it depends on the exercises that you choose.

Hope that helps.
