How to approach neck exercises

Post by TheHeb » Tue Dec 16, 2008 12:17 am

Since I've been weightlifting I've put on a ton of muscle mass, but I'm starting to think I'd look a lot better if my neck was a bit bigger. My vanity is compelling me to do something about it. I was basically planning on doing the necksercises (see what I did there?) listed in the exrx.net directory.

My questions would be:

How many sets/reps would stimulate the muscles in the neck? 3x5 heavy or something like that doesn't seem like the best idea.

Should I do the exercises super-slow? Seems like speed would be a bad idea...

Any particular exercises you guys would recommend?

Thanks for any advice.

just do it all 4 directions. 8 to 10 reps, a little short of failure. Just try a couple sets for now. I think neck size is more genetic though.
