For those that don't know...

loop the band around the bar, and then step into the loop if that makes sense

That's band-assisted. I said "band-resisted." I'll leave it to KPj to figure out how to do those. :D

Well, 1x1.1=1.1. Rounding up=2.

Now you know how I breezed through calculus so easily. :eek:

I have edited the list to include Peter, Tim and Airhog.

There's time for others to declare their intentions! :grin:

In my program at the moment I am working on strength. This week was a 3x8 week and every 4th week will be the same.

Can you change mine from the dead hangs to overhand pull ups, a little wide of shoulder width, from dead hang, elbows beind the center line of the body and chin over the bar. 3x8 with 10kg at a BW of 72kg.

As I am specifically trying to improve strength and not maximum number of dead hangs, it would be better to test like this.

Doc,

My Intentions are still to participate, and as soon as I can get the wife healthy enough to watch the kids, I will get back in the gym and get my baseline.

This has been one of those weeks when life just gets in the way of trying to stay healthy and Semi-Fit... Arrgghhh

Sure! I don't care what kind of pull-up you use. The challenge is for a 10% improvement. How would you measure that? Increase from 2x8 to 3x9? Or increase the weight (10+72=82; increase that by 10% to 90), so add 8 kg to your weight? Do it any way you want, just set a goal that is 10% higher than what you're doing now.

Well, if you're that close, you'd better reset your goal to 10!

Current status:

Stu 5 going for 6
Peter 10->"11+"
VoK 22->25
Gantz 8->9 now 10, since he nearly got 9 the first few days of the challenge
Ironman listed several variations, but maybe neutral close-grip 6->7?
Mr. P Knob 10->11
Nygmen 9->10
Wouter 7->8
daniel4738 27->30!
MattZ 1->3 (BW+30#) (self-declared goal) Reached goal 18/1/09! New goal?
Wilburburns yet to test
Stephen 12->14
Hoose currently being goaded. Can do 2 wide-grip, so maybe goal of 3? Or maybe you can do 8 medium grip? You don't want to miss out on all the fun, do you? He just hit 3 WG
ninjackn 9->10
KPj 9->10 BW+10kg
TimD yet to test and set a goal
airhog 1->2
and Jungledoc 10->12 I just looked at my journal, and my best was 10, not 11. Apparently I have exaggerated my own prowess. I'll keep my goal an increase of 2.

Keep pulling!
