Better lateral delt exercise

Which is the better lateral delt exercise? And just to let everyone know, dumbell raises i mean the new exercise...not front raises.

Barbell/Dumbbell front raises are for front delts.

sure no problem. I need to know which is better to know which one to start doing. I hope its the new dumbell raises, side lateral raises are annoying.

Well usually I have no problem doing the first rep but then the second rep gets uncomfortable for some reason and i cant do it.

For everyone else do u find the new dumbell raise a better lateral delt exercise than side lateral raises?

i prefer db raise find it works more for me, but once in a while i throw in a side raise for variation.

Generally speaking it's a good idea to avoid any movement you find uncomfortable or painful. Either change something (grip, stance, form, etc) to aleviate the problem, or substitute another exercise.

Can the DB Raises be done with a barbell?

Maybe with a trap bar, but not with a strait barbell. With a straight barbell you would be doing upright rows, which are similar, but slightly different.

basically i just need an effective lateral deltoid exercise that does not work the anterior delts. The only one i can think of is the new db raise but im gettings a few negative comments about it. Any others? im kinda desperate since im gonna be doing it soon. Any help asap would be appreciated.

I use a lateral raise with a slightly bent forward stance so the DB's come in front of the groin and bent elbows. It feels to take emphasis off front delts and place more on middle and rear delts. Also in the shoulder there is a flat band ligament the runs over the head of the humerous, side lateral raises with no elbow bend and straight to the sides can cause damage to this ligament due to closing of the space when the delts contract. How do I know? I injured this ligament on my right sholder when I was 16, put me out of Basketball training for 2 months!!!

So i should do side lateral raises with a slight bend in elbows (like 10 degree angle)?
