It is a bit weird -- I went out and bought new Chucks, going from a 9.5 to 11.5. Pretty nutty jump. They feel a lot better, no pain, and don't feel too big.
I did read the T-Nation article earlier, which got me thinking that it wasn't in my head. I'm trying to transition to more barefoot or barefoot simulated training. I'm going to try running on the hard beach sand barefoot, might go in for some Nike Frees (at least once I've scraped some dough together).
In any case, there is a strong personal correlation between my training, flexibility and, it seems, foot size all increasing. I'll take it as a good thing. thanks for the responses.
