workout bruise or popped blood vessel

Post by austintacious » Thu Feb 26, 2009 3:06 pm

After I got thro at the gym the other day I noticed I had like a snake bite dime size type of bruise or something on my left bicep. Has this happened to anyone else?? It doesn't hurt. I thought I popped a blood vessel so I took a razor and made a very small slice to see if the blood would drain, but it didn't bleed at all really other than a few drops from the slice. So I am a bit concerned that I'm straining too hard or maybe? Any suggestions??

Sheesh! That's not a very smart way to either diagnose or treat a bruise. What do you think a bruise is? It's ruptured capillaries. That's probably what this is. Don't sweat it, don't stop exercising, don't back off. No biggie. Except that now you have a laceration on your arm. I hope it doesn't get infected!

X2

Hey Doc, what do you think about me removing something from my eye with a heated ice pick?

Sorry austin. Dude, you are going to get bruises when you lift. Leave them alone. If it doesn't hurt, don't worry about. Hell, if it hurts a little, don't worry about. Most of the time if it hurts a lot, don't worry about it, but get it checked out by your doctor. Wait until your nose starts bleeding when you deadlift.
