I have a friend who has lost the knee cartliage in her right knee due to an injury. Does anybody know of some good exercises she can do? She has been given the go ahead from her doctor. The only thing her recommended NOT to do was any jumping exercises.

Squats and dead lifts. Start low, go slow.

I'll add running and leg extensions to the NOT list. Anything jarring or that puts an extreme and unnatural force on it is bad.
I would also say do squat and deadlift. Maybe leg press if she is too heavy to squat her body weight.

swimming and elliptical machines are low-impact alternatives to running, if she's looking for cardio exercises.
