Also, the study doesn't take cover the effect of compound movements.

Why? While Bompa's views aren't the gospel, they are woth considering.

What I would be wary of is getting to think that only one exercise per bodypart is worth doing, and all the others are also-rans. Valid results or not, it's good to mix things up in order to keep gaining fitness (to say nothing of preventing boredom).
