what foot wear do you use for squats , ive seen people go bare-foot . But i seen that alot of olympic lifters use shoes with wooden heals. Also i find that the best work out for my Gluets comes from sprints, could this be because i dont go real heavy or is my form out? cause i tend to feel it more in my thighs.

It depends how you squat.

If you squat with a more erect torso and let your knees move a bit forward then it targets more of your quads.

If you squat with a forward lean, a bit wider stance and push your butt back and down, then it will target more of your glutes.

Going deeper with either style will recruit more hamstrings.

I use a pair of Puma motorsport shoes because they have a solid rubber sole (presumably for pedal feel when driving), but I like them because the solid sole won't break due to above-normal stresses due to squatting. Many of the complex sole (esp. with compartments of air for running or whatever) construction of today's shoes aren't meant for bodyweight + 300lbs stresses.

So long as they're comfortable while you're lifting (most importantly not cramping feet), and made durable to withstand it you should be fine, I think.

Squatting deeper will also recruit glutes more.

Cross-trainers work well, since their made for running and weight training. Running, walking and basketball sneakers have soles that are much too soft and squishy, which makes your stance a lot less stable and solid.

That's what I noticed. When I worked up to going paralell, I could really feel it in the glutes.
