whats the right way to perform skull crushers?

Post by Jeannay » Thu Sep 09, 2010 5:52 pm

Ahh im a bit confused about this exercise its great but...
Some people say i should have my palms face inward
Should my elbows flare out or should i keep them in one line with my wrists
How narrow should be my grip?

thanks for your help

From what I understand, the closer your elbows are to your torso, the more tricep that's involved.

Palms should face outward, no benefit to palms facing inward and you'll never see anyone who knows what they're doing do it that way.

You might want to compare the way you're performing the exercise with that of this site:

Exrx Skull Crushers.

A narrow grip with elbows flaring out could be more irritating the elbow tendons and ligaments than a shoulder width grip with elbows in as you start to do the exercise with serious weight.

All I know is that if your skull actually gets crushed, you're not doing them correctly.
