I was wondering what he opinion is on this. I pretty much exclusively use freeweights for other reasons, but I was wondering if using an exercise bike for things like HIIT could be problematic.

You shouldn't have any worries about the bike Haffy. The machines Chek is talking about are weight machines, not cardio. That's a good article.
