Goals for 2011.

Post by Proper Knob » Sat Jan 01, 2011 10:58 am

The title says it all really. A thread for writing down your goals for the new year upon us. I'm always setting myself goals in relation to my training but i think writing them down on a public forum gives myself some form of accountability.

These targets are based on the progress i made 2010, i think these are achievable especially since i had 3 months of limited/no training as i relocated -

1. 160kgs Squat
2. 220kgs Deadlift
3. 110kgs Bench

Also,

4. Standing Ab Rollout.
5. 20 Chinups.
6. Greater flexibilty from hips and some flexibility from my lumbar spine.

The challenge is set.

seems like an achievable goal, what are your numbers now? Also what workout do you wanna start of with?

Phil--I don't see why not, especially on the squat and DL. Aren't you benching around 80kg now? That is a big goal, but you're making steady gains, so I think you can hit it. How about press--a goal? You've hit a PR in the last couple of weeks, right?

He's not starting off. And if you want to see his current lifts, just read his journal.

140 kg (~300+ lbs) Squat + Deadlift.
105 kg (230 lbs) Bench Press.
65 kg (140 lbs) Press.

I think they are fairly modest goals. Losing the love-handles is the hard part.

velcro fear not, the love handles will go away if you stick to what you are doing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGWAm5nMZG4 try something like that :)

I benched 102.5kgs early last year before i moved. Since then i took my bench technique apart after watching Dave Tate's 'So you think you can bench?' series, so i swallowed by pride and ego and started again back to my first 531 bench cycle.

At the end of my last cycle i benched 80kgs for 8 reps, which gives me an estimated 1RM of 99kgs. So i figured 1 kg a month on to my 1RM would put me up to 110kgs (or thereabouts).

Forgot about that. I put 5kgs on my press in 2010, so following that logic i should aim for 65kgs and above.

I was going to start an identical thread...

...goals are:

120k Bench (currently 95k - won't be easy)
200k deadlift (using a trap bar, currently at 160k, think this is achievable)
100k clean x5 (currently at 80k for 3, think I'll get this too, only been doing these for a month or so)
do some conditioning (been threatening to start doing sprints for months)

however my most important goal is reach 200lbs while staying lean. Currently at 180.

I've been back at the gym for 7 months now after nearly 10 years off due to a very bad back injury. Despite putting up great numbers 10 years ago, I've experienced significant detraining and gained a ton of bodyfat.

Here are my goals for 2011:
Squat 2x My Bodyweight. Currently just over 1.5
Bench press 2x my bodyweight. Currently at 1x
34 inch waist. Currently at 38.
