I am an engineer and view the body like a machine. The basic law of conservation of mass comes to mind. If you take in X but burn Y, you are left with X-Y. When Y is larger than X you reduce your mass. When its bigger well then you gain mass. I am sure there is some sort of prority as to what part of the body is reduced first and I am sure it varies from person to person. The only true was to achieve spot reduction I am afraid is lipo suction.

My gut is to agree with Lyle on this one.
But... Who the hell knows? I certainly don't.

I'm actually suprised that there's no 'Biotest spot reduce' shake advert at the bottom of the article.

A little? A LITTLE?
That really surprises me.
I'm really skeptical. In fact, I just plain don't believe it.

Ok you got me. I'm actually very skeptical. It sounds like it might be somewhat true in certain circumstances, like getting into contest shape. But for most applications, I find it quite unbelievable.
The part about the areas that collect the most fat being the coldest definitely isn't true. At least it's not true with my body. My temperature is usually very even. Maybe the fingers and toes are a bit colder, but I don't get any fat there.

There's a fat person in my work place who constantly chews chewing gum, but her face never looks any thinner. That's a lot of reps, every day. A lot of blood flow. Surely her face should be in contest shape by now?

I saw a similar logic with a big suit that compressed and warmed your fatty areas, and she did loose body fat% - but there were tons of things like "avoid eating x as it helps the process" - you know like the abdominator super terminator 2000 will get you a 6pack (as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle and a calorie defecit and cardio work and and and...)
I was sure id be able to find the bbc link but will have to settle with the below one.

again the main focus is increasing blood flow and temp to the area.
