Attic turner into gym

Post by Xterone » Fri Feb 18, 2011 7:46 am

Hi I recently turned my attic into a small gym for about 20 to 30 persons and the people frequenting the gym are complaining about the light and heat coming through the windows, which makes it impossible to use some of the equipments which are placed exactly under these windows. So now I am thinking about velux blinds, maybe made from some sort of insulating material, that would reflect the sun, but also that would allow light to come through. Now you see my confusion and hope you can help.

How about some pictures? Blinds or solar control film are probably answers. You can do it yourself or, if it's a big job, it might be worth having a professional do it.

It will probably have something to do with velux blinds. I can't imagine a "small" attic gym fitting 20-30 people.

I hope it's one related to a/c in garages - ones that dont need outside access to drain. Mine will get hot soon.

as long as it's over 45 f I'm ok
And beingbconencted to the house, it stays at least that. Of course getting below 30 f is only occasional around here

My garage is a nice temperature at the moment, bit cold for the first couple of sets but a very nice temperature to breath in during training. I can feel the coolness of the air in my lungs, I love it! Don't really sweat at all this time of year in there.

On the other hand, the gym I train in through term time is pretty horrible, always too hot, always wanna drink loads of water but then I start feeling sick because my stomach's full of it. Only got a couple of floor fans, dread to think what it's gonna be like in a few months time!

Thanks for the advice stuward. I'll check some professionals see if anyone can help me. Think I'll stick with some velux blinds

I think some torn-up cardboard boxes and thumbtacks would be real nice. Skip the velux. Decor is so important to the overall atmosphere of a gym.
