Toe Trouble

Post by robertscott » Sat Jul 30, 2011 5:35 pm

Bit of a strange question this, and I'm not sure anyone'll have an answer but I figure it's worth a try...

Basically, my big toes hurt, loads. It's the joints that join my big toes to my feet, anytime they bend back it's agony. Completely rules out push ups and lunges. Rolling my feet on a hockey ball helps a bit which makes me think it's because of tightness in the fascia somewhere, but it just comes back again. Would be nice to treat the cause and not just the symptom. I've had it for almost a year now and it's just getting worse.

Any ideas? It's REALLY sore

Both sides the same? Does the pain stay consistent, or does it vary? Sometimes go away entirely for a few weeks? Are the joints warm to the touch? Red? Is there swelling? If so, what part of the joint? Any other joint pains?

the pain varies from quite sore to ridiculously sore, there's no redness, swelling or heat. It never really goes away although over the course of the day it can get a little better. Both sides are the same.

Any ideas Doc?

Gout comes to mind, though you are pretty young for that. It's possible.

Gout? Damn I hope not, I aways thought it had to be a bit more swollen than that. I do eat a lot of red meat though...
