Questions about the Good Morning Exercise?

Post by uggy » Fri Oct 14, 2011 6:57 pm

I'm thinking about putting this exercise in my routine to get some hamstring development.

Would just like to hear some other people's opinions/experiences with it.

I also have a question:

Q: Is is better to have the bar placed high (on traps) or low (on rear delts) for maximal development?

Thanks!

I think it's just a question on how long you want the lever to be. When it gets heavy, high placement can be uncomfortable though (and scarier!).

I always go back to RDL, but I want to GoodMorning. It feels and works; but for me, it seems a bit riskier in that the weight feels relatively light on your back, but you better stay tight when you lean forward. Plus, I need to work my grip and traps, so RDL helps that. Short answer: I'm not confident it has enough benfit over a RDL for the risk. However, if you can keep good form, imo, it works the erectors + (hams/glutes depending on extent of knee bend) like no other move

Good exercise. Guys I train with do it sitting on a bench in a cage, which makes it a bit safer
