"I'm doing it!" after rep 1 of 5 of his first body-weight deadlift, done rather tentatively because he wasn't sure if he'd pulled an adductor. He completed all 5 reps without complaint.
Along those lines I had someone quote me today. I asked for a spot on 142# squat and when I got to the bottom I said" I think I need some help" the spotter said as soon as he touched me I shot up pretty quick

Well I hope the joke is not on me. The spotters place their hands lightly on my side just under the arm pits when I need help.

Spotting women is difficult because they have breasts that are considered a no touch area. The correct way to spot someone is to shadow them literally following their range of motion with your body. The spotters pelvic area very close the weight lifters glutes shadowing them up and down with your forearms pressed to their upper ribs. If a client needs a spot and is a male you still have to have permission to touch them.

When spotting you squeeze inward with the forearms against the ribs and then pretty much grab the pectoral region spotting which way needed pulling up and back or up and forward . Spotting a woman is difficult but when needs to be done I believe they would welcome it. I just started training my first woman and she lifts really light weight weight that I can spot by grabbing the bar. As long as you got your reps in your good!! haha

I am sure it is a bit touchy  they all let me know what they are going to do and I have never felt "uncomfortable". I sort of look at like the doctor, not about being naked but about being helped. It does give me extra incentive to move on my own. It is difficult becaue there are really no women at the gym who lift or that I would trust to spot me.

I was talking to my mate Mikey yesterday, and he said:

"I just love barbells. I love how they look, I love how they feel, and I love what they do for me."

I thought it was pretty damn funny.

Speaking of Abraham Lincoln, saw this bumper sticker yesterday, kind of an inside joke for Americans: "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to."

I usually spot the squat with the crook of my arm under the armpit like a forklift (if needed). You might want to try this with your female clients, since you don't actually have to put your hands on them. At most your forearm might brush sideboob, but then you can't really grope someone with your forearm.
