Testing ORM

Post by xshawnxearthx » Thu Aug 02, 2012 6:29 pm

So I just didn't have it in me today to keep going. I think it was a combination of poor food choices, not doing everything like I normally do, and then of course, my mental. Went to test my squat ORM. Got up to 320lbs...hit it, but then couldn't get my head right to attempt 325. I know I can do more. I only hit 315lbs last time. I know I could have gone higher.

It was a big, WTF/FML/UGH moment. I just walked out. If I decide to try this again next week, eat better, warm up better, get my head right, can I test again next week?

I only went up by 5lbs. I think I would have been pumped if I tried 325 and stuck it. It definitely wasn't a brag post. I was just off. I'm going to try again next week just to give myself an actual chance.

WHEN YOU'RE SQUATTING OVER 300, EVERY 5 POUNDS IS A BIG DEAL!!!!!

Don't whine about not hitting 325! Getting the 320 was great. Many of us are happy if we can gain 5 pound on our squat in a years time!

Usually hitting a new PR leaves me not feeling up to trying any more.

I guess because I have been steady going up with my rep weight, I figured I should have been able to do more with ORM>

Some people say it's good to go on with small steps. Even if there was a possbility for something bigger. Think it this, you got a record and you got it relatively easy. You know you had the next record in the tank, but leave it for the next time. Next time you are doing the weight, you will smoke it totally. And once again you got yourself a relatively easy personal record. Think about the feelgood it can cause to break records more often than just majorly every once in a while. Always reach for the training high. It won't come with failures.
