Add olive or coconut oil to everything.
Re: Calories and macronutrient ratios
You really can't skip meals if you are going to get bigger. Are you on any some sort of stimulant medication that might be killing your appetite? 1500 calories is a cutting diet. Maybe shakes might be less filling and allow you to take in more.

If you're losing weight from just walking around, it's obvious that you're not eating enough to support muscular growth.icifyr wrote:@Stephen Johnson
Two slices of bread
Sardine or eggs
Tea
Rice with lentils or meat and veg
Rice with whatever I have above
Sometimes I have snacks like crackers.
A lot of walking, I'm a university student.
This is also on a good day some days I skip meals.
College students are under serious financial pressure these days, so spending the money on the food you need might be a problem. Also, are you a citizen of the US, or do you live in another country?

Re: Calories and macronutrient ratios
back in my day, I got fat in college.
Working 50 hours per week on my feet, taking 12-16 hour loads
Kids these days want a free pass, or mommy to pay,
Oh, and I had no student loans.
Go to work son.
Anyway, learn to grill hamburger and eat a lot of it.
And roast whole chickens. Easy to do.
And large cuts of cheap meat
And liver.
Living on Univerty campus, probably not best way, though
You may have to do it the dirty way to get calories
Or pick another goal for now.
oscar out.
ps eat Coconut oil by the spoonful Stuff tastes so good I wouldn't wait to put it on anything. Expensive though

NOW I know who Oscar really is! He's my grandfather back from the dead to haunt me. Grandpa, you'll be happy to know that I no longer sleep until noon on Saturdays.Oscar_Actuary wrote:back in my day, I got fat in college.

@hoosegow
Why?
@Ironman
No, that's what I usually ate. I was considering shakes but I think eating is no longer a problem. I'm on track to reach my calorie goals with how I'm eating now - I think I was eating less because I hadn't realised how many calories I was actually eating and how much calories there actually were in some foods.
@Stephen_Johnson
Yep. Spending money on food shouldn't be a problem. No, I'm a citizen of Australia.
@Oscar_Actuary
Ok.
@Jungledoc
I don't sleep in on Saturdays, either!

Thanks for the help, I'm going to keep up my eating then I will try working out in a few days.

Re: Calories and macronutrient ratios
Then there's no reason for you to eat a grain based diet like you're doing now. Especially since you live in a country that's a world class meat, dairy and seafood producer. A grain based diet works OK for endurance athletes, but doesn't cut it for strength trainersicifyr wrote: Spending money on food shouldn't be a problem. No, I'm a citizen of Australia.
Re: Calories and macronutrient ratios
Oscar, back in your day college was MUCH cheaper. But I agree that kids do need to contribute more.
Re: Calories and macronutrient ratios
Because it adds good dense calories to your diet. 1 gram of fat = 9 calories. `1 gram of protein or carbs is 4.
