There is evidence that strength training actually decreases pain. But don't do too much too fast. Pay attention to each lift. Keep notes. If you consistently have more pain after a certain lift, you'll need to find ways to modify that lift.

Looks like you're right doc. I tried a squat and forward lunge with no weight doing 8 reps for both and my knee pain is less, not more! Unbelievable! Thanks!!
